Microchipping
Know Where Your Pet Is
Microchipping is a way of permanently identifying your pet.
A microchip is a small implant containing a barcode number, which is registered on a database to the owner’s name and address.
This means that if an animal is lost and is found by a member of the authorities such as the police, dog warden, RSPCA or is taken to a vet as a stray, you will be contacted and reunited with your pet.
We recommend microchipping from 10 weeks of age.

Legal Requirement For All Dogs
Microchipping has been a legal requirement for ALL DOGS in England and Wales since April 2016 and is also a legal requirement if you plan to take your pet abroad.
Microchip implantation is a quick procedure for cats and dogs and can usually be done within a normal consultation appointment.
For pets such as tortoises, birds and reptiles, please contact the surgery as some sedation may be necessary.
